Akito has a definite mean streak and has physically and emotionally scarred many members of the Sohma family, but Akito's rule in the Sohma clan is absolute, and none dare oppose him. While Akito isn't cursed by any of the vengeful spirits (mononoke) of the Zodiac, Akito has been revealed (Volume 11) as playing the role of the Jade Emperor (God) from the stories about the origins of the Chinese Zodiac. A possible part of Akito's curse was that Akito would only live to be 30 years old. Obsessive and somewhat mad. At a certain point in the Zodiac's life, Akito wishes to force them to live within the Sohma compound with him for the rest of their lives in a never-ending "banquet". He even describes himself as the "Master of Their (the Zodiac) Souls". He also has a definite hatred for Kyo Sohma, the Cat, who he believes should be isolated for the rest of his life. It is only after assurance from Shigure that Tohru can be trusted with the family secret that she is allowed to stay. Akito has no choice but to order Tohru's memory erased should she fail to uphold her end of the bargain. Most of the Sohma family is afraid of Akito and will follow his orders no matter what their personal feelings may be. Akito is a cruel person who doesn't care for anyone else. He gets sick very often and is watched over by Hatori Sohma, who is a doctor for the family. The cause of his sickness comes from the fact that he won't live past the age of thirty. He is the head of the house is the person who takes the whole weight of the family. In effect, it puts a lot of pressure on him. He does not turn into any animals. In the manga, it is eventually revealed that Akito is actually female.

"It's nice outside. Come with me." Shigure dropped by. I was just about to have a little bit of breakfast during his visit. He was insisting that I come with him today. Indeed, the day looked real fine. It was tempting. So I sipped a bit of tea made by Kureno and left the main estate. "Wouldn't everyone worry?" I asked. "Don't worry." is just he said. It's been a while since Shigure and I spent time together. I was a bit nervous because I didn't know whether my body would act up or not. Hatori didn't come and nor did Kureno; but I wouldn't want them to come. Not today. "Where are we going?" "You'll see." is just he said. I was too frail to think of anything. I was just happy to be with him inside the car. I would say I'm surprised to see him driving again. Shigure is lazy. But whenever he's motivated, he's one of the hardest workers I've seen in my life. "Are you having a hard time writing these days?" "Not at all." is just what he said. "How's work?" "Nothing much." is just what he said. For such an articulate person and a novelist, I could only hear him say a few words in the car. I was hoping to have a conversation during the ride; just to pass the time. "And we're here." he pulled over and I looked at the window and I didn't dare blink. "What do you think? The flowers here are nice, huh?" Shigure brought me to this open field. It was filled with flowers and it was so colorful. My eyes were filled with vivid colors that were stunningly alluring. The clouds were raising by. It made the sunlight play hide and seek with us. The grass was just right that we could sit in the open field and just forget about the world. It was simply beautiful. I sought refuge, is what I thought. The wind was blowing and I looked around and saw the grass swaying along. It was a magical sight to see them sway in unison; it's like a scene from the movie. There was hardly anything on the road. It's like we're far away from civilization. "How'd you find this place?" I asked. "It's beautiful." "Isn't it? I was driving around when I had a writer's block and I saw this place. You could say I've been driving for a while." he sat down on the grass. "So... what do you want to talk about? It's been a while, Akito." It's good that he brought me outside. Isn't it that I'll die faster if I rot inside my room? Keep quiet. 4:31 PM ![]() |
